ANU PhD graduates wear a distinctive blue PhD colour, unique to the Australian National University. Originally called 'smalt' blue, the PhD gown has front facings in this colour. The academic hood is made of the same blue fabric in the Cambridge style, which is fully lined in matching colour.  Headwear is a black velvet bonnet with matching blue cord and tassels.
