University of New England PhD graduates wear a scarlet-coloured gown that is faced with white and edged in gold. The sleeves of the gown are also fully lined in white. The hood is made of matching scarlet fabric and is lined with white and edged in gold. The black velvet bonnet has a black cord and tassels.
